I LOVE this crib! I’ve done a separate post all about it but now we’ve been using it for 3 weeks I just want to say how happy I am that we chose this one. It’s so great to be able to just glance over whilst in bed and see that Isla is OK.
I really wanted a Storksak or Pacapod bag but couldn’t justify the cost so ended up with this simple changing bag from Babies R Us. I’ve done a separate post on this as well. Now we’ve been using it for a few weeks, I have to say I do like it and it does the job but it could do with being a bit easier to organise and keep things tidy inside it!
It doesn’t matter where you get them from but get lots of vests (unless you like doing lots of washing!) for baby to wear under sleep suits and outfits to keep them cosy.
We used cotton wool and warm water for the first 2 weeks of Isla’s life but then found these amazing wipes! They are the most natural ones out there and provide a little bit more cleansing power than just plain water and cotton wool. It also stops you having to faff around getting the water at the right temperature too.
I’ve just started reading this book and am a third of the way through already. It’s full of information and so many useful tips. I think it will be a god send when we start properly trying to implement a routine.
Again it doesn’t matter where you get these from but they are essential for when baby isn’t wearing sleep suits with mitts built in. Their little nails are incredibly sharp from the minute they’re born. I’ve been full on scratched on the face on a few occasions – not fun!

I don’t know what I’d do without the endless episodes of Revenge, 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom to watch during the long night/3am feeds!!
Isla has quite a few blankets but this one from the Little White Company is my favourite! We have a blanket waiting in nearly every room at the minute haha.
There are so many cute little newborn outfits out there but all you’ll want to do is have your little one in something comfy and easy to get on and off for nappy changes! Don’t get me wrong we do have a fair few outfits for Isla but when she’s at home we prefer to have her in comfy little sleep suits or bodysuit and legging combos. It’s best to get ones that have the built in scratch mitts.
I wasn’t convinced that I wanted Isla to have a dummy but unfortunately she’s has a very strong suck reflex and as much as I love her sucking on my pinky, I can’t sit there all day doing it! As breastfeeding didn’t work out for me I think there is less of an issue with using a dummy. She only gets it when absolutely necessary and I take it out of her mouth if she falls asleep with it in. They do say you can take away a dummy but you can’t take away a thumb if they decide to start sucking that. I think Isla would have been in the thumb sucking camp if we didn’t give her the dummy.
I had to give up breastfeeding so a steam steriliser was an essential item that we needed to get. We got the Tommee Tippee one and have the bottles to match. Isla has started reacting badly to wind though so may splash out and get the Dr Brown bottles everyone raves about.
A complete essential item I never realised we’d need in our room as well as the nursery. They make getting up to take Isla down for feeds at 3am less stimulating for her and allow us enough light to check on her sleeping without having to turn any big lights on.
