When I used to live at home with my family, one of my favourite things growing up was family night. I have always gotten on really well with my family (bar the occasional teenage fall out!) and to this day still class them all as my best friends.
Family night, which was usually on a Friday night, used to be one of the main times of the week where we would all make an effort to be in, get cosy in front of the TV and spend quality time with each other. It was nice to catch up properly on each other’s weeks and generally have fun.
We used to get a take away – in the form of a stone baked pizza from the local Italian or a pick and mix of Chinese/Indonesian food. We had a really fun takeaway place in the town we lived in, in Holland, where you could go and choose different sized containers of all sorts of food. Somebody needs to open one up near where we live now!
So what makes a good family night in?
This is my list:
And of course:
When we moved into our first house, the only say my husband wanted on anything was the TV. He is super fussy when it comes to electronics but one of these beauties from Panasonic would have been a winner for sure. I had no idea what a 4K TV was but my husband took great delight in explaining it, in detail, to me!
Family night is definitely something I want to make a tradition in our little family as well. Obviously Isla is a little young just now but it is one of many things, that I loved from my childhood, that I would love to carry on.
Do you set aside a particular night for family time? What’s your essential family night item?
