So we’ve decided to ‘pull the goalie’. What a vile saying!! Especially when you’ve had the copper coil in and there’s a bit more of a literal meaning to the phrase. YUCK. Apologies! Anyway, I got my coil taken out a couple weeks ago and technically we aren’t properly trying for another baby, but also aren’t preventing it from happening.
We took over a year to get pregnant with Little I so we are trying to be prepared in case it takes that long again. We’d love a two and half-ish year age gap but we shall see what happens over the next few months.
It ended up being a bit of a nightmare trying to get pregnant with Little I, to be honest. I found coming off the pill horrendous and my cycles were all over the place. After 6 months of ‘just seeing what happens’ we started trying to track my cycles and ovulation etc. I did the whole basal body temperature thing, monitoring other fertility signs, buying OPK kits and in the end we were both pretty stressed about it all. I ended up having a scan and blood tests done, which came back fine, and the husband was about to go get tested literally weeks before we found out we were pregnant.
We wanted it to be different this time around. Everyone does say the second baby seems to happen a lot quicker than the first and it does make sense. You already know you can get pregnant so there is less worry in that sense. Worry leads to stress which leads to not getting pregnant so anything that lessens the worry or anxiety around getting pregnant is bound to be a good thing.
We shall see. We’ve decided if we get to four to six months again with nothing happening, we’ll pay a bit more attention to fertility signs and ovulation etc and go from there. Mainly just because of the husband’s schedule with work and going away.
I wonder how long it will take this time. At least the pressure is off a little bit…
How long did it take you to get pregnant the second time round?
