When I was pregnant with Little I, I took some token bump shots for my (very new at the time) blog, and tried to take weekly shots to be able to look back on, but that was about it. I was terrible at taking photos and they were often dark and blurry! This time around, I really wanted to savour the moment a bit more and find a photographer who could capture my pregnancy in exactly the vision I had in my head.
As my blog and YouTube channel have evolved, I’ve developed a certain taste in photography. I’m all about the minimalistic shots that are as bright as possible. My Instagram feed is filled with beautiful photography accounts and I, very much hope (haha!), I’ve improved in my own photo taking through the inspiration of others.
I really struggled to find a photographer down south in England who would be able to get the shots I was after. My friend Steph from Chalk Kids told me about Emma Lawson Photography back home in Aberdeen and, as I was heading home to have baby anyway, I thought I’d get in touch. At first I just enquired about a newborn photography session but as we got chatting (Emma is too lovely by the way) it kind of developed into some more ideas as well – with a maternity shoot included.
Here are a few of the images from the shoot. I’ve saved a lot of them just for the husband and I.
Emma did an insane job of capturing just how happy I am about being pregnant. She has a huge talent for making you feel completely at ease and capturing you at your best. I was really nervous about the shoot – especially because I’m half naked haha – but I honestly felt like I’d known Emma for years and had lots of fun.
If you’re in Scotland (or if you’re not, she travels further afield!) and are after simply stunning photos for your wedding, newborn or family then definitely check her out. You won’t regret it!
Did you do a maternity shoot or take any pregnancy photos when you were pregnant?
