A while back, when I started sharing my silent reflux journey with you all, I started to get quite a few comments on my social media accounts asking if I had tried any probiotics with L to try and help with his symptoms. I didn’t really know much about it all to begin with but I did my research and decided it was worth a go. I went onto Amazon and ordered a particular brand that someone had recommended. We started them straight away and saw good results pretty quickly.
When Bio-Kult got in touch to see if we wanted to try out their Bio-Kult Infantis probiotic formula, it was like it was meant to be! I had just run out of the drops we had been buying and was keen to try a different type of probiotic with L. I found the drops quite hard to administer, they ran out really quickly and were quite expensive.
Bio-Kult are a range of probiotic products made by Probiotics International Ltd (Protexin). They provide innovative research based products of the highest quality and have over 20 years of experience in manufacturing live bacteria products with very high standards of quality assurance.
Bio-Kult Infantis is a unique multi-strain probiotic formula that has been designed specifically for infants, toddlers and young children. I didn’t realise that 70% of the immune system is found in the gut and a balanced gut flora from birth is essential to stimulate the development of an infant’s immature immune system. A balanced gut flora can also help to avoid conditions such as colic, diarrhea, and allergies including eczema, hay fever, and food intolerances. Bio-Kult Infantis combines seven strains of live probiotic bacteria as well as Vitamin D3, to contribute to the normal function of the immune system.
We have been using Bio-Kult Infantis for a month now and are getting on really well with it. Whenever I used to run out of the old probiotics, if there was a day that we missed out using them, L would be really unsettled and unhappy. Switching from that brand to Bio-Kult Infantis hasn’t made any difference and L is as happy on the Bio-Kult Infantis as he was on the old brand, which is great. It means they are doing their job. And they are doing it well!
What I like more about the Bio-Kult Infantis, compared to the drops we used before, is the ease of use. Like I mentioned above, the drops were quite hard to get into L’s mouth sometimes and you had to count five, which was a bit of a nightmare. At least with the Bio-Kult Infantis sachets you can easily see how much you are putting in and it is easy to make sure they are having the right amount. There is also no need to refrigerate the sachets, which makes them easy to transport. Now that L is weaning and is eating puree three times a day it is so easy just to pop the Bio-Kult Infantis powder into the puree and mix it up ready for him to eat. I am still breastfeeding and if we weren’t weaning, it might have been a bit of a faff with not being able to pop the powder into a bottle but you are able to give the powder directly to your baby, mix it with some expressed milk, or place directly on the nipple before a feed.
The RRP is £11.95 for 16 sachets. The dosage is 1 sachet per day so 75p a dose. Not too bad in my eyes, especially with the benefits it brings us.
All in all we are very impressed and Bio-Kult Infantis is continuing to help settle L’s gut, and help with his silent reflux symptoms. He is a lot more settled when having the probiotics and I love the fact that I can help ease some of his discomfort. We would recommend any parent with a little one with eczema, silent reflux, colic etc to give them a go to see if they help.
