We are a super busy little family of three. The husband and I both work full time. Myself, 37.5 hours a week, and the husband, something very similar. Little I goes to nursery full time where she thrives and has a whale of a time.
Week days consist of work work work, and week nights are full of cooking, going to the gym, blogging, errands and the like. It never stops! It feels like we are always on the go. I’m lucky if I get to bed before midnight.
So when the weekend rolls around, the first thing we do is pour a glass of wine. Only joking!! We take a deep breath, take a step back and look forward to the next 66 hours together.
Even though I am a working mama I still wanted to be able to take Little I to a couple classes so we have ballet on a Friday afternoon and swimming on a Sunday. It’s nice to be able to do things like this where we can have fun together and socialize with other parents and babies. It sounds silly but it makes me feel more like a mum.
We love to get out of the house together. Little I loves being out and about and exploring. We try to mix it up so there are things we do that she enjoys – trips to the park, the beach, soft play, play dates etc – but also things that we enjoy – going for lunch, having a mooch around the shops, visiting a new town or city etc. We are very lucky that she doesn’t mind being in the car at all and appears to have given up on trying to protest to lunch or dinner dates (it’s all about the distractions!).
I love making the most of things. It’s no secret that I’m not particularly fond of where we live at the moment, but I like googling new things to do nearby. I do love the fact we are right on the coast, so have lots of beaches to explore. And, at the end of the day we are only 1.5 hours from London so I can always escape! We like taking day trips out to new places and are planning a couple weekend away trips as well to places like the Isle of Wight, Cornwall and the New Forest.
The husband is joining his ship in a few months, so we will be less able to plan weekends in advance, and at the beginning of next year he will be deploying, so we need to make the most of our weekends together while we have them.
