How far along: 32 weeks.
Symptoms: I’ve been having some crappy symptoms this week which have seen me ending up in hospital, and at the local maternity centre, for monitoring a few times this week. I had a really bad headache for a few days and started to get swelling and visual disturbances, a kind of flashing light in my vision, so was told to head up to hospital on Monday night. They hooked me up to a CTG monitor, tested my pee and blood, did my blood pressure and checked my reflexes (bizarre). Unfortunately, because I was having some swelling and because protein turned up in my pee, they asked me to go along to my local maternity centre the next day for further monitoring. Luckily my blood tests were clear enough to allow me to go home, instead of getting admitted though. Phew. My blood pressure stayed slightly elevated the first time I went in for monitoring, which is unusual because I usually have very low blood pressure – but it seems to be back down now. Double phew!
Food Cravings: Mainly bread and butter. Yum, yum, yum.
Movement: Baby is still really active but the movements are getting more ‘muffled’ (for want of a better word) and feel more contained. Room seems to be running out in there for the poor little thing!
Gender: N/A
Sleep: Sleep is fine, when I get to bed! I’m terrible for staying up late to work through the to do list. I’ve notice bump needs more support in bed now.
Stretch Marks: Still none – woo.
Miss Anything: Sushi – I’ve got a right craving for it.
Best Moment: Having the scan to check for any signs of cystic hygromas and to monitor growth. Baby’s neck looks clear which is AMAZING news. I don’t think I fully realised how much it must of been playing on my mind until they said it looked clear. The feeling of relief was almost overwhelming. I’m so glad that I’ll be allowed another natural delivery and I really hope the absence of a cystic hygroma might help more with breastfeeding and bonding this time round. I walked around in shock for the first few weeks last time. Growth also looks ok, even though bump is small.
Worst Moment: Being back in hospital and being monitored.
Looking forward to: Maternity leave! Two weeks to go. Lot’s to do…
