Last week my lovely friend Jess, from Jessica Avey, and I headed on up to London Town to attend a couple of events together. I have been trying to slow down on going up to London every week on my blog/YouTube work day, because I need to spend more time at home getting things done, but I couldn’t resist these two invitations!
First up was the Bobbi Brown Mumhood x Bobbi Brown #betterthansleep event at Frame in Kings Cross. It was such a fun event. The Bobbi Brown girls and the Mumhood girls were so friendly and couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. I loved (strong word for exercise) the class and I felt so much better after it. The work out was the first proper exercise class I’ve done since having L and it has spurred me on to start up my fitness regime again. I am so unfit! It was a mix of cardio and strength and was suitable for pre and post natal ladies. I definitely felt the effects for a few days after!
Mumhood is a collection of classes and programmes designed specifically for mums of all ages, fitness levels and stages of mumhood – i.e. pregnant, postnatal etc. Founders Pip Black and Joan Murphy are keen to show that you can still work out safely and efficiently event though you are now a mum. They are passionate about showing the right types of exercise to make us strong, fit and lean.
There was a lovely little breakfast spread of fruit, coffee and the most amazing dairy free protein smoothies. SO good. They had vegan protein in them. I need to find some for my home made smoothies in the morning!
We got a little make up freshen up from the Bobbi Brown girls and got a chance to see their new Instant Full Cover Concealer in action. I already use their hydrating eye cream and the combination of that and the concealer meant that my very late night with my 10 month old son the night before was pretty much erased from my face!
‘The Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer has a concentrated, highly-pigmented coverage that visibly brightens stubborn dark circles and softens hollows and tired lines in an instant—no sleep required. It is for anyone who wants a full-coverage under eye concealer with a weightless feel and natural skin finish. In one swipe, this highly-pigmented concealer covers completely, feels like nothing and instantly brightens dark circles. The non-drying formula helps balance skin’s natural moisture levels for a supple, more comfortable feel. Plus, the long-wear formula is water-, sweat- and humidity-resistant all-day coverage that won’t crease or settle.’
We had a bunch of fun in the GIF booth taking silly photos and then got changed ready to hit the tube into central.
Next up was the Boots Mini Club launch of their new Fearne Cotton Kidswear collection.
Fearne gave us a quick presentation about the range and introduced us to her lovely mini models as well. She seemed really happy with the way the range has turned out and her favourite pieces from the collection were Jess and I’s favourites as well. She popped off to do one to one interviews and we had a mooch around the collection, ate some very lovely canapés and chatted to other bloggers.
The Fearne by Fearne Cotton collection consists of 31 pieces and is based on items that Fearne herself loves, such as faux fur coats, bombers and low slung trousers. With items for kids aged 9 months, to six years and from just £7, the collection oozes Fearne’s passion for fashion. As a mum of two, Fearne is all too familiar with the need for practical style too. She’s therefore worked closely with the team to create garments that, as with all mini club clothes, are easy to put on (and easy to whip off), easy to wash and long lasting.
Fearne said of her collaboration “It’s a dream to be able to combine two of my favourite things; fashion, and my kids. I’m a real perfectionist and the team at mini club are the same, so we’ve really pushed ourselves to create cool but wearable clothes that are affordable for parents too. The leopard print hareem trousers are my total favourite – I’m going to try and get a pair in my size!” – I’m sure she said at the event she does have a pair now!
This is the first time Boots Mini Club has collaborated with a celebrity. Explaining the partnership is Head of mini club, Margaret Kirkpatrick, “We have all long admired Fearne’s gorgeous style, but we also admire her approach to being a mum. She puts such fun, joy and energy into everything she does. That’s what we try to do with the mini club brand – we aim to create clothes that allow kids to enjoy being kids: to have fun, to be comfy and to look gorgeous.”
The range will be launching in selected Boots stores and online on 30th August. We will definitely be picking up a few bits, especially because they are retailing at such great price points.
Thanks for having us Bobbi Brown and Boots Mini Club, it was such a fun day out!
