An Open Letter To My One Year Old

Dear Little I,

You are almost 18 months, how crazy is that?! I have no idea where the past year and a bit has gone but it has been a pleasure my little bean burger.

You are growing into a right character. I’ll retract that. You have always been a pretty big character but your personality seems to grow and grow by the day.

You are at your happiest when you are making other people laugh. You are the ring leader at nursery and every time I come to pick you up, you are up to mischief, leading your little friends astray.

You get so excited these days and it is so much fun to watch. Your reactions to things and to other people have gotten bigger and are hilarious.

I wouldn’t have it any other way eelie meelies. I sometimes do look at other children and think ‘oh I wish she would just sit still sometimes’ but then I look over at you and you are just so happy rushing about exploring the world.

Don’t get me wrong you do love a cuddle every now and again but it has to be on your terms and only lasts about 5 seconds. Too many places to go, people to see! The cuddles you greet your friends at nursery with in the morning melt my heart. And when we get spontaneous kisses, it truly is the best part of my day.

I’m sorry I don’t get to spend enough time with you. I do regret how much time I have to spend at work sometimes but it’s for the best just now and I hope you understand when you’re older. Everything we do is for you silly sausage.
