First Beauty Post!! Lush Face Mask Review

I’ve always liked Lush products but I hadn’t actually stepped foot in one of their stores for a while. We were out shopping on Saturday and I noticed one tucked away in a shopping centre in Porstmouth. The smell as you enter the shop is amazing! Everything smells so fresh and delicious.

Lush are the biggest players on the UK high street when it comes to handmade cosmetics made. They buy their ingredients ethically, they do not test on animals and their packaging is ‘naked’ so you can have a clear conscience when buying from them! Another added bonus is that if you bring back 5 little pots, you get a free face mask so you are essentially claiming some money back. Happy days!

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a super friendly staff member who took me through numerous products I was interested in. I honestly could have bought £100s worth of products but settled on a face mask and a hair mask instead. Thought I’d start with the areas that need the most attention! Pregnancy and motherhood has done nothing for my poor skin and hair.

So onto what I bought. The Catastrophe Cosmetic face mask.

I love the Lush packaging. There’s just something about a little Black pot! The mask is a fresh one so it has to be kept in the fridge and only lasts 3 weeks…

Here’s what Lush have to say on the mask:

‘A calming and moisturising fresh face mask packed with blueberries, calamine and chamomile, rose, and almond oils to soothe and soften the skin. We use wholesome blueberries as they are rich in vitamins and minerals, including the antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E that help to protect the skin from damage’

The tub is filled up really high and it smells amazing. It literally hits you as soon as you take the lid off the pot. You can really smell the blueberries. It smells good enough to eat. As do most products in Lush!

The consistency is great. It is really thick and you have to stir it around to mix it up again if it’s been sitting for a couple days, which really shows how fresh it is. It has lumps of blueberry in it which feel nice when you are massaging it into your skin.

Due to the fact that you keep it in the fridge, it has a lovely cooling sensation on your skin as you’re applying it. It felt really relaxing and the cold sensation mixed with the gorgeous smell made it a very calming 10 minutes in my day today, compared to the ill baby!

It was very easy to apply as it went on smoothly and evenly. The bits of blueberry etc stayed in the mask and didn’t fall off my face which was good as I had hoovered and couldn’t be bothered re-doing any of it! It dried relatively quickly on the skin and felt like it was working deep down. Washing it off was really easy and there wasn’t one of those ‘find missed face mask in hair and ears’ scenarios which is quite common with a lot of face masks.

My skin immediately felt super smooth after drying and it still does 3 hours later. It really does make a difference to the quality of your skin.
At first I thought that £6.50 was a bit steep for a face mask. Then I thought about those face masks that come in the packet that you only use once, which are £1 – £2, and realised that you’d get more for your money with the Lush ones. In fact, I don’t know if I’l manage to get through the whole tub in three weeks. I’ll give it a good go though!

Do you use any Lush products? For this being my first beauty post, what do you guys think? Be kind!!
