I was always a huge fan of My Little Pony when I was younger and am so happy that it is still on the go, and seems even more popular, nowadays! As part of being a member of Hasbro’s Toy Tribe, we were offered the chance to try out the new My Little Pony PlaySkool Friends range which is aimed at 18 months to 3 years.
My Little Pony toys by Playskool Friends feature colourful, chunky ponies and play sets which are especially designed for little hands. It means younger children can now engage with their favourite pony characters through active and imaginative play experiences before moving onto the older My Little Pony toys later on.
What we were sent
Pinkie Pie Party Popper
Details
• Ages 9 months and up.
• Requires 4 D batteries (not included).
• Adult assembly required.
Includes: play set (unassembled), 4 balls, and instructions.
The Pinkie Pie Party Popper is a fun, air-powered toy that randomly pops balls out left, right and centre. What could be more fun for a toddler?!
All your child has to do is push down the pony’s tail and the music and fun will begin. Balls can either pop out the top of the pony, for up in the air play, or roll down past her feet, for chase along the ground play.
There are six different songs and sound effects and Little I loves them all. There was even a bit of bopping about and clapping going on.
I think the thing Little I loves the most about the Pinkie Pie Party Popper is how energetic it is. She is constantly on the move and tends to love games where she is running around. She is always insisting that we ‘chase her’ so any toy that she can run around after definitely gets a thumbs up
The Pinkie Pie Party Popper is made of great quality materials and you can tell it is built to last (and withstand toddler excitement). Another thing I quite like is the pastel colours of the balls. They match well with the whole Playskool My Little Pony range.
Pinkie Pie Ride ’n Slide Ramp
Details
• Ages over 18 months
• Adult assembly required.
• Requires 2 AA batteries (not included).
The set includes unassembled play set, two figures, vehicle, and instructions.
The Pinkie Pie Ride ’n Slide Ramp was a HUGE hit with Little I. There is a similar toy at her nursery and she takes great delight in showing me the cars going down in when I pick her up in the evening. Her eyes lit up when she saw this. The fact that she has her own, super fun version with My Little Ponies in cars has made her a super happy little girl. She loves shouting ‘ready, steady, goooooo’ before making the cars scoot down the slide, by pressing the balloons.
The size of the cars makes it a great toy for toddlers because they are able to grab a hold of and move them around easily.
She absolutely loves the music that the Pinkie Pie Ride ’n Slide plays – it really adds to the fun!
I, personally, really like the lovely, bright colours of the Pinkie Pie Ride ’n Slide and the design. It feels sturdy and durable and I’m sure Little I will get lots of fun out of it for a while to come.
Pinkie Pie Walking Pony
Details
• No batteries required.
• Ages 6 months and up.
What an adorable little pony! It is a great size and once she got the hang of it, Little I really enjoyed scooting the Pinkie Pie Walking Pony around the house. All you have to do is push down so the Pinkie Pie Walking Pony’s legs go down and then release. Your Pinkie Pie Walking Pony will then go zooming off.
The Pinkie Pie Walking Pony obviously works better on hard floor surfaces as opposed to carpet and lucky for Little I, her grandparents house is mainly wooden floored!
The Pinkie Pie Walking Pony is a great size and allows Little I to manoeuvre it easily and confidently. She even tried to take her in the bath with her. ‘Oh, pretty pony’ seems to be the main phrase used around it at the moment.
The only people in the house who weren’t too find of the Pinkie Pie Walking Pony were the dog and cat, but they soon learnt to jump out of the way!
Would we recommend?
We would definitely recommend the My Little Pony Playskool range. It is a great in-between range which bridges the gap baby toys and more grown up toys. Little I had a lot of fun with her toys and all her friends who have seen them have too!
