I’m a sucker for a nice bag. I don’t tend to buy a lot of bags on the high street (how awful does that sound?!?) but I have a few key designer bags that I just have on rotation. There is something so lovely and special about a new bag and I think you would be hard pushed to find a mama who doesn’t appreciate a good handbag. Even if we barely the chance to get them out to show them off, thanks to the changing bag life you sign up to once you pop that first baba out.
When Radley got in touch and offered to gift us a bag to style in whatever way we wanted, I was like ‘yes please! Thank you!’. I’ve been having a tough few weeks parenting, and general life wise, so it was such a lovely email to receive.
The De Beauvoir large zip-top tote is a perfect addition to my wardrobe. He is joining my old faithfuls and will be most welcome. The husband always makes fun of me because I personalise everything and make it a ‘he’ or ‘she; and make it sound like we have this crazy extended family of possessions!
I could tell how great the quality of the De Beauvoir bag was from the moment I got it out of the box. It is made from that super soft, and super smooth leather that looks absolutely stunning.
The Radley De Beauvoir tote has such a classic shape. It’s one of those shapes that will never go out of style and is extremely functional, but fashionable at the same time. It has feet at its base so it can stand up, or be stored neatly. The handles are a great length too and sit comfortably in your hand or on your shoulder.
It is a great size. Not too big and not too small. That perfect in-between size. A size that is big enough for everyday trips out, but small enough to use when out at night, to dinner or the cinema etc, as well. It’s really good for when I’m out and about with just the toddler and need to carry a lot less, than when I have both of them out with me. There is plenty of room for my essentials and a couple necessities for the toddler.
The Radley De Beauvoir has a spacious interior with a zipped pocket to keep small items safe, and then two slip pockets, which are ideal for your purse and phone (or some form of baby paraphernalia!). I’m all about the pockets and storage when it comes to bags and this one has plenty.
The bag has a fun, playful embellishment, which is a detachable hanging typography charm. Hung on a leather cord lanyard, six colourful laser-cut letters spelling RADLEY and are decorated with stitching. I’ll be completely honest and say the charm isn’t really my style, so I have taken it off now, but I can see it appealing to lots and lots of people. I’m just boring!
Another fun aspect is the vibrant print inside the bag. It adds a bit of colour to the style and actually makes it easier to find things when rummaging around in the bag. I always find Black or dark linings make it nearly impossible to find anything you are looking for.
I loved taking my new bag out and about. It was great for a day out at the park with the kids (even though the toddler was on her worst behaviour!).
*We were sent the bag free of charge but not compensated for this post.
