Our mornings have always been crazy, but they seemed to have stepped up a gear since Meels started school. All of a sudden the rush out the door each morning has become even more of a struggle and I’m desperately trying to find quick and easy ways to make sure we’re all set up for the day.
One easy way of doing this is by making a smoothie in the morning. We are lucky enough to be Breville brand ambassadors this year and one of the products we have enjoyed trying out is the Breville Blend Active ColourMix Family Blender.
It’s a great blender that makes whizzing up smoothies, juices etc an absolute breeze. It’s really straight forward to use (hello one button operation) and can be cleaned easily too (which is my biggest thing when it comes to appliances like this). The Blend Active ColourMix Family Blender comes with dishwasher safe bottles (in two sizes) which have super-seal sports caps – perfect for when you are trusting your little ones with their own little bottle.
I’ve been trying out quite a few different recipes recently and I thought I’d share our favourite one so far…
Ingredients:
Three handfuls Mixed Berries (sometimes we use frozen for ease).
One banana.
1 heaped spoonful Coconut yogurt.
1 glass orange juice.
1 tbsp Wheatgrass.
I’m not even going to do a proper method section because it is literally just a case of shoving it all in the container and pressing the blend button – it’s as easy as that! The kids love the fact that it’s a little creamy, thanks to the yogurt, and I love that it’s tasty, refreshing and full of goodness.
As winter is well on its way now, and it’s the time of year when all the bugs come out to play, it becomes even more important to try and get as many nutrients into our diets as possible. Nobody wants to be stuck inside miserable with a cold, instead of being out and about getting involved in all the winter and festive activities! I find making smoothies a really good way of getting as many vitamins and good things into us as possible.
I’m terrible for not eating breakfast during the week, so using our Breville Blend Active ColourMix Family Blender to make myself a smoothie each morning has been a great encouragement to actually have something before getting to work. The husband used to be great at making me one to take to work, but since he deployed in July I’ve been rubbish at remembering! Having our Blend Active ColourMix Family Blender sat on the counter looking at me now reminds me.
Meels, L and I sit in the car on our way to nursery, school and work with our smoothies and it gives me peace of mind that the kids are getting some extra nutrients each morning too.
