I’m all about trying new things as a parent. I love seeing how technology can play a part in how we manage our family life and when something new comes along that promises to make parenting that little bit easier, I’m totally up for trying it! We were sent a Nurofen Fever Smart Temperature Monitor to try out and thought we would share what we thought with you guys.
The Nurofen Fever Smart Temperature Monitor is a continuous temperature monitoring device which allows the continuous real time monitoring of your little one’s temperature, even whilst they are asleep. It looks very techy and I love the minimal, and effective, design of it.
The general idea of it is that it will track the temperature and send it to the FeverSmart app every 60 seconds. It uses Bluetooth connectivity which means you can read all the real time information on your phone without interrupting the sleep of your child, which we all know is VERY important! Sometimes if you have a thermometer which requires going into your little ones ear, or under their armpit, they can wake up when you’re trying to take a reading. If you have a very light sleeper, like I do in my youngest, you’ll know what I mean! Even me breathing near him causes an issue sometimes!
The Nurofen Fever Smart Temperature Monitor super easy to set up by downloading the app, paring the devices and filling in your information. A top tip if your pairing key on the box doesn’t work is to look on the actual device and use that one instead – one of my letters looked a bit different on the box than on the key.
You then use the adhesive stickers to stick the device under your child’s arm pit and voila, you’re good to go. The app will pick up the device and start monitoring, sending you pop-notifications when/if there are any temperature spikes. The monitoring device itself didn’t bother L at all while he was sleeping. He smiled (whilst asleep) when I put it on, as if I’d tickled him (he’s very tickly), and then just continued sleeping.
Using the app is really easy. It’s all very self-explanatory and it just tells you what you need to know. The chart is a great visual representation of what’s going on and there’s no excessive information or features, which is what I like to see in an app.
Another great feature is that you can track any medicine you give too, by recording it on the app. This would be great for me as my memory is terrible and this is the sort of vital information I tend to forget easily. I’m going to blame the sleep deprivation!
I’m lucky that my kids don’t tend to get sick at all really but they do often have little temperature spike days. The Nurofen Fever Smart Temperature Monitor massively helps to put my mind at ease when they do and I’m sure we will be getting a lot of use out of it over the years.
