In our office at work we have a hot water machine that we use for all our cups of tea and coffee and I always thought that would be handy to have at home. Not having to wait for a kettle to boil, what a thought!
I’ve been trying out the Breville Hot Cup Water Dispenser and at first I couldn’t understand why you would need a machine like this if you already had a kettle in the house, but I was proven wrong!
As a super busy parent, time is of the essence and sometimes you just want a cup of tea, or coffee, but can’t face waiting for the kettle to boil. Or if you’re like me, you do boil the kettle but because you get distracted by kids, emails, work, washing, anything that doesn’t involve making a cup of tea, you forget and walk away until the next time you think ‘ooh, I fancy a cup of tea’.
The Breville Hot Cup Water Dispenser is capable of boiling a cup of water in less than a minute which makes it a great alternative to a kettle for a busy family. The boiling comes from a high power heating element.
The design is great – super modern and sleek – and, like our other Breville products, it fits into our kitchen well. It’s a good size, not too big but also not small and fiddly. I like the fact the tank lights up. It looks good and the illumination helps when it’s late at night and you haven’t got many lights on!
The dispenser holds 5-7 cups’ worth of water in its 1.5l water tank, which I thought was pretty good. Plenty to go round if you’ve got more than one hot drink drinker in the household.
It’s really easy to set up and use. I had it all set up in under five minutes and figured out how to use it super quickly too. There’s a start and stop button on the top and the start button has a dial around it where you can adjust the size of the cup in order for it to dispense the right amount of water for you.
Another great feature is, because the hot water dispenser only boils the water it uses, is that it is far more energy-efficient and economical than your standard kettle. The environment has been playing on my mind a lot lately.
Something that’s mega important to us, as parents with two kids under 5 who keep us incredibly busy, is whether it’s easy to clean! I found the Hot Cup Water Dispenser incredibly easy and quick to clean. The removable drip tray, limescale filter and stainless steel finish all simplify your cleaning process, so you can have pure and clean boiled water every day. Speaking of the drip tray, it can be easily moved up or down to accommodate whatever kind of fancy buy your heart desires!
All in all, I’m pleasantly surprised by the Breville Hot Cup Water Dispenser. I can see myself using it way, way more than I thought I would and it’ll be great for me if anyone pops over for a cup of tea unexpectedly.
And remember, it’s not just tea you can make! You can make all sorts of other hot drinks and also use it to make noodles, porridge, stock, gravy, jelly…basically anything that needs a bit of boiling water!
Here’s a little veggie noodle recipe I do quite a lot:
Quick Veggie Noodle Cup
Ingredients:
Rice noodles

Peas
Mushrooms
Sweetcorn
Soy Sauce
Method:
1. Put noodles in a large mug.
2. Use Breville Hot Cup Water Dispenser to add boiling water to noodles and leave for 5 minutes.
3. Quickly pan fry the tofu and mushrooms, whilst boiling the peas.
4. Drain the noodles.
5. Add the tofu, mushrooms, peas and a large spoon of sweetcorn to the noodles.
6. Finish with as much soy sauce as you like!
