Winter Warmer Toasties with Breville

Oh my goodness, I love a toastie! They transport me right back to my childhood when a toastie and crisps lunch was an absolute favourite. You have to have the right toastie maker though. There was a lot of debate in my house growing up about whether the ones with the flat hot plates were best, or the ones that sealed the bread around the filling, aka the deep fill ones. In my humble opinion the deep fill ones were definitely the best. Got to keep that filling in!

We are Breville Ambassadors and were sent the Deep Fill Sandwich Toaster to try out. I think the kids were as excited as I was because our old toastie maker broke ages ago and I hadn’t gotten round to replacing it!

Breville’s Deep Fill Sandwich Toaster looks great. With a White gloss finish and metallic detailing, it fits into our kitchen well. The unique natural DuraCeramic coating on the plates means that it works even better than a standard non-stick coating, and it has an extended element which browns toasties more evenly. It also stands upright for compact storage, happy days! This is something that is a great help for me with my lack of storage in the kitchen.

Here are three of our favourite fun winter warming toastie ideas:

Macaroni cheese and ham

I use leftover macaroni cheese, add in some chunky cooked honey roast ham and Meels absolutely loves it! Cheesy pasta is one of her favourite meals so it was always going to be a hit.

Beans and cheese

What a classic combo. Beans and cheese reminds me of my uni days as I used to eat them all the time! Sometimes I would even throw in some mushrooms, if I was feeling really fancy haha!

Spaghetti Hoops and sausages

We have been quite late to the game with spaghetti hoops. I think because I didn’t particularly like them growing up, it didn’t cross my mind to buy them for my kids either. Terrible! They both love them and they’re such an easy addition to meals. Throw them in a toastie with some leftover, cut up sausages, and you’re onto a winner! What is it with kids and sausages?

All in all, we have been very impressed with our Breville Deep Fill Sandwich Toaster. It heats up quickly, cooks our toasties perfectly, seals in the filling well, the toasties are easy to cut, with its cut and seal technology, and it’s also easy to clean. All of this means we can make a tasty, quick lunch with minimal effort and the clean-up isn’t a drama either. A winning situation when there are little ones around.

Now to come up with some more adventurous toastie ideas! You can actually also cook things like pastry, eggs, grilled cheese etc in them, so we need to branch out and make some new things pronto.
